TRANSPORT

Franconia is blessed with one of the most advanced & efficient transport systems in the world today. The system has a number of elements, air, road, surface rail, & sub surface rail.

Each major city is connected to each other by a six lane highway (Autobahn) for the use of private & commercial vehicles. All vehicles drive on the right hand side of the road, and each lane has a specific purpose. Commercial vehicles are restricted to the right hand lane at a speed of 50kmh. The centre lane is for private vehicles limited to a speed of 100kmh. The outside lane is reserved for government & police vehicles with no speed limit imposed.

The national airline ,Frankluft operates both international & domestic services using several types of aircraft.

The surface rail system is divided into 3 seperate networks. Each major city is connected via the high speed First Class Network. These trains are steam powered and operate a non-stop service between each state capital.

Services to the minor cities & towns from each state capital is by 100kmh diesel powered trains of the Second Class Network on tracks which radiate out from each city but do not connect to either the 1CN or FRS lines.

The Freight Rail System is designed to carry goods and industrial freight which would be too great for the Autobahns & other roads. Again this network does not connect to the 1CN or 2CN networks.

In addition each city has its own sub surface rail system or U-bahn. This mass transit system links each major part of the city together inluding the 1CN & 2CN rail stations & the airport. Each city also runs its own bus & taxi services.
