The people of Franconia are descended from a number of ancient tribes who occupied the area of Merrian now called Franconia centuries ago.

These tribes at first hostile to each other, grew closer aided by the similarities of the language of each tribe to the other. Eventually all the tribes developed a mutual language incorporating most of the constructions of the tribal languages, which became known as Frankisch.

The Tribes remained independent for centuries until formally unifying into the nation we see today.

From birth a Franconian is taught that nothing is more important than serving the state and the people to the best of his ability in whatever field he is most suited to. This is reinforced during his education, where his natural talents are transformed into the skills needed by the state. The state provides free housing, free education, & free health care in return for complete loyalty.

All citizens spend 1 year doing Public Service, either in the Armed Forces or a civilian service, such as the National Police (Reichspolizie). This is regarded by the participants as an obligation to the people & as a thank you to the state for its protection. Many choose to remain in Public Service at the end of the year, not leaving until 22 years later in some cases.

This year of Public Service reinforces the discipline ingrained from birth required to make the Franconian people among the most industrious on the planet. Scientists receive heavy support from the government in their research activities.

The Corporations also invest heavily in the training and welfare of their employees, to the extent of providing corporate holiday resorts, where employees and their families can enjoy a 2 week vacation every year, on the corporation.

There is also a thriving cultural base, again encouraged by the government, which ensures that our theatre, music, & literature rank among the best in the world.
